Issue 04: Life of the Party

For the past six years, I've carried a disposable film camera wherever I go.

My goal is to capture the fun — the memories I never want to forget, the places, the friends and love around me. The photographs in these postcards are from a trip to Yosemite I took earlier this year, which I've been experimenting with turning into cyanotypes. Yosemite is one of the most beautiful places I’ve been to and I wanted to hold on to that feeling. I've been collecting cards and messages from people who've said things that mean a lot to me. "Thank you for always being down for an adventure" — words from a friend on my birthday a few years ago. I stitched these words onto a photograph I took of a couple lifting their canoe onto their truck at the end of the day. "So so proud" — a message from my coach after my first open-water swim while training for my first Ironman 70.3, and "you make life more fun.” I embroidered these words into the work to make postcards for those who want to share these messages with someone they love.
